About the project

DEMO is a Capacity Building project (KA2) funded by the European Commission, Erasmus + program. Initiated and coordinated by Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, it involves eleven academic institutions in Israel and in Europe, two NGOs and over sixty participants.

DEMO aspires to advance teaching about migrants' lives in Israeli Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This, with the aim of improving the skills of professionals in applied social sciences (teachers, counselors, social workers, psychologists etc.) so that they can better meet the needs of migrants.

To achieve this, we are developing, implementing and disseminating courses on the lives of migrants. By applying advanced teaching methodologies, we encourage a personal and meaningful learning process that enables the students to connect to their own and their families' migration histories. By means of community involved and art-based methodologies, students in DEMO courses document narratives of migrants and study them.

We hope to inspire others to teach about migrants' lives.

Moreover, by giving voice to migrant's we hope to promote a more inclusive and cohesive discourse in the Israeli society.
